Award Celebrates Purpose-Driven Technology

The Software for Good Award honours organisations using technical expertise and software innovations to create positive social change. Toyota and Unbound were selected for their transformative projects in sustainable mobility and community empowerment.

Unbound: Connecting Communities Worldwide

Unbound, an international nonprofit, connects sponsors with individuals and families in poverty through its secure digital platform, Portal. This system streamlines global communication, reduces paper waste, and improves engagement, enabling the exchange of hundreds of thousands of letters and videos annually.

SmartBear’s Role in Ensuring Reliability

Using SmartBear’s TestComplete and ReadyAPI, Unbound automates front-end and API testing to maintain Portal’s quality and reliability. This ensures sponsors and families can share updates seamlessly, even from remote areas.

Toyota has developed a Plug & Charge (PnC) cybersecurity framework for EVs, enabling automated charging session authentication. This innovation reduces infrastructure waste, enhances accessibility, and creates a more user-friendly charging experience.

Toyota’s Product Cybersecurity Group integrated SmartBear Zephyr into a custom test automation framework, streamlining test creation, execution, and results tracking. This reduced manual work while maintaining strict cybersecurity standards.

Technology as a Force for Good

From empowering families to improving EV access, Toyota and Unbound demonstrate how social impact software can deliver measurable benefits for people and the planet.
